PatientLink® receives COVID-19 Innovator Award from Allscripts®
We are honored and grateful for the “COVID-19 Innovator” award presented to us by Allscripts during their recent Developer Summit.
When the coronavirus pandemic seemed to catch everyone off guard earlier this year, it felt as if the world was knocked off it’s axis a little. “COVID-19”, “pandemic” and “coronavirus” quickly became a front-and-center topic of conversation in the media, on social media and even in the line at the grocery store. Everyone was talking about it then – and everyone is still talking about it months later. And, after the number of cases seemed to wane somewhat; our nation was hit with a resurgence of cases. Safety continues to be of paramount concern.
But with every tragedy, every dire emergency, it’s how one responds to a desperate call of mayday that matters. PatientLink’s main focus has always been on the clinicians we serve – and the patients they serve.
At PatientLink, we’ve always believed in doing what’s right. Sometimes doing what’s right also means ‘Right now!’
Masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, social distancing, shields between shoppers and clerks are now part of our everyday lives. So how can a software developer in the heartland possibly make a difference and come to the aid of patients and healthcare providers on the front lines?
“Because we speak to our clients regularly, we are aware of the financial and emotional impact of COVID-19 to clinicians and staff. We quickly fast-tracked requests for development and implementation of COVID tools,” said Debi Willis, PatientLink CEO and founder.
When calls rang out to us from a nationwide healthcare system and a large Texas based organization for a COVID-19 prescreening questionnaire, we provided them both with a same-day turnaround for development and implementation of their forms.
Then, a request came in from a large Louisiana-based healthcare system for a patient intake solution for telehealth visits. Our team worked tirelessly to create and implement the tools our Louisiana client needed within 5 days. The client’s implementation of PatientLink Online to collect and send patient intake for telehealth resulted in our client receiving a staggering 6,830 patient form submissions in a little over 3 weeks after they went live!
Simply put, but not easily accomplished, we answered our clients’ mayday calls. PatientLink’s CEO Debi Willis, and CTO Angela Unruh couldn’t be more proud of their staff.
“We have an amazing, cohesive team that literally accomplished several weeks’ worth of work in a matter of days. I think every team member felt like they were able to give back during such a difficult time,” said PatientLink CTO Angela Unruh.
These tools, COVID-specific patient intake forms, have assisted PatientLink clients in pre-screening patients from the safety of home, prior to their appointments. The specialized forms provide clinics with vital intel on how – and where to treat their patients, promoting a safer environment for everyone.
The PatientLink team also created COVID-19 Risk Assessment and COVID-19 Symptom Tracker tools for their MyLinks® account holders – again at no charge.
The response from clinicians and patients has been phenomenal. And if you ask our team, they would tell you they’d do it all again. It’s not just about good customer service. It’s also about truly caring for the clients PatientLink and MyLinks serves. We met our client’s calls for help because it was the right thing to do and it’s our mission.
