Oklahoma City, OK – January 24, 2017 –PatientLink, an innovative software development company, was chosen as one of the winners of the Allscripts Open API Patient Engagement Challenge, for their application, MyLinks.
“It was such an honor to be chosen,” said Debi Willis, PatientLink CEO and Founder. “Partnering with the Allscripts Developer Program (ADP) has provided so many opportunities for us to showcase our products. We greatly value our partnership because of Allscripts’ client focus, intelligent APIs and the ease of doing business with the team.”
The Allscripts Open API Patient Engagement Challenge provided the ability for PatientLink to introduce MyLinks a software application that delivers a unique interactive platform for patients, doctors, and researchers to communicate and connect with each other. MyLinks also enables patients to easily gather and store their health information from their physicians into one location – fully accessible and under their own control. Its many features include patient forums, patient education, the ability to find and participate in research studies, as well as enabling patients to share health information with their caregivers and families for better care coordination. For providers and health systems attesting for Meaningful Use 3, this solution provides the functionality required to meet the criteria for a patient-facing application connected through APIs.
The driving force behind the invention was Willis’ personal experience caring for a family member with cancer, then her own experience with cancer shortly afterward. “When we are diagnosed with an illness, it’s frightening. I realized there are three vital elements we need available to us. First, we need all of our data: we want to understand the diagnosis, understand how severe our condition is, and what we can do to get well and stay well. Secondly, we want to know what research is being done and how we can participate or benefit from it. And lastly, more than ever, we need the support of our family and friends. Illness shouldn’t be a journey we walk alone,” Willis said. MyLinks meets those needs by connecting patients to all of their health records, to their doctors and researchers, and to each other…all in a secure and private environment.
“MyLinks has been a vision and passion of mine for several years. We have been building the product, but knew it would require technology standards among all electronic medical records to make it work. I am so thrilled that the government has mandated new standards that will make this all possible in 2017. I feel like we have been building a train, and the tracks are finally getting placed and connected. Patients having access to all of their data will empower them to have better control of their health and their lives, and allow them to be the drivers of change. I believe we will see some amazing changes in the next few years!” Willis said.
Most recently, MyLinks was chosen as the first place winner in The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology’s (ONC) Consumer Health Data Aggregator Challenge.
MyLinks is an integral tool in assisting providers with care coordination, as well as helping them to meet new government mandates. The webinar held on January 26, 2017 was an enormous success.
